Having never yet been to africa i have an image of what i would find if i went. The tv and press tends to be negative to africa with stories of famime, dictators and disstress. But I am sure overall thats not the real nation.I forsee beautifull art, many from basic materials like, wood, cloth and sand. There will be vibrant colours, reds, yellows and browns. There will be objects based around the cultures and religous beliefs, there will be so much to see and to buy if you can find dealers who pay good money for their goods at source.Get looking and get buying.

Guess you will be suprised. Much easier in most areas than you might think.
People are nice, and more relaxed. If you donŽt mind about some small imperfections youŽll certainly be happy.

I SUPPOSE CORRUPTION AND TERRORISM MAKE BETTER NEWS THEN ANYTHING NORMAL.MY STEP SISTER WAS BORN IN SOUTH AFRICA AND WHEN SHE WENT BACK RECENTLY THE PICTURES SHOWED A LOT OF THE AREAS.UNLIKE SOME COUNTRYS THERE SEEMS NO GRADUAL SLIDE FROM RICH TO POOR AREAS,IT SEEMS THE RICH AND POOR LIVE NEXT TO EACH OTHER,THE OTHER DIFFERENCE IS ALTHOUGH THEIR LIVES ARE HARD THE POOR SEEM HAPPY IN THE MAIN

I guess youŽre fully right. Even more as there is not just one "Africa" - there are dozens of countries. Personally I find South Africa less fascinating than the Sahel zone and the countries in the north like Maroc.
Certainly difficult to compare a maroc arab with a Zulu tribesman.
Despite these difference I think they still share a certain relaxed psotion, which you hardly find in western world nowadays. Not only good, bad not only bad as well.
