Recently, I was reading an article dedicated to African art and I was amazed to find out about so many varieties of African art forms. Initially I used to believe that African tribal art was just limited to masks. But after seeing the photographs of the original oil paintings, jewellery items and pottery items I was simply spell bound. Being an art lover, I am planning to buy some original paintings to add to my collection.  Can you guys suggest where I can purchase some good African paintings?

Hi Sam Thomas,

I am an ardent lover of African tribal art and I am happy to know that you liked this genre. I must mention here that the tribal artists are highly creative and have magic in their hands. I have a very high regard for these talented African tribal artists. Now coming to your question, I can suggest to you an online site http://www.southafricanartists.com/ from where I picked some wonderful art pieces. Give it a try and I am sure you would find something to your taste.

Take care

Oil paintings have been in use for centuries in africa, however examples are hard to find, many sites - like the http://africanpaintingsgallery.com prefer to be a contemporary african paintings gallery. It is often possible to find parchment or rock art pieces however.
